Essay / Research Paper Abstract

This 4 page paper provides an overview of this issue. Illumination and sound engineering are two seemingly different conceptual and structural areas that are often interconnected. In recent years, for example, efforts to reduce energy consumption and to create more effective illumination and sound production devices have determined major shifts in illumination and sound engineering. In assessing these, it is necessary to consider major changes that have occurred in recent years and the central principles related to these types of engineering. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

devices have determined major shifts in illumination and sound engineering. In assessing these, it is necessary to consider major changes that have occurred in recent years and the central principles related to these types of engineering. Illumination engineering is the engineering of lighting and lighting systems that can range from the development of lighting plans for homes to the creation of lighting systems to support stage or film performances. Further, illumination engineering is often related in terms of the development of extensive plans and the completion and operation of these plans within certain structural guidelines, including the desire for cost-containment. Shwartz (1992) related the fact that new technologies and energy saving devices are constantly being created in the scope of illumination engineering that demonstrate particular gains. In essence, the relationship between illumination engineering and architecture is based on the need to create systematic changes and implement operational structures within an architectural design. Georghiades, Belhumeur and Kriegman (2001) considered the issue of varied techniques in illumination engineering as they can be applied to changing illumination conditions. These researchers argued that there are a number of different methods that can be employed by illumination engineers in order to effectively create variations in lighting, including what they describe as a generative appearance-based method. This is an applicable perspective that is utilized when integrating illumination engineering into the set development and lighting systems for the stage (Georghiades, Belhumeur, and Kriegman, 2001). There are many different factors that influence the assessment of lighting systems by illumination engineers, including the lighting and viewpoint, the particulars of a pose or the definition of an object, the construction of surrounding elements, and the illumination conditions that exist at any given time (Georghiades, Belhumeur and Kriegman, 2001). As a result, the ...
