Igbo are an ethnic people that live in various parts of Africa. They are among the largest and most influential groups in Nigeria and most of them are farmers in
rural areas. Before British imperialism in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Igbo were made up of various sects and political groups based on historical lineage, religious practices, dialect, village
affiliation and even attire. In fact, some argue that it is impossible to define a single Igbo identity because the group was so heavily fragmented and socially and politically independent
of each other. They were however, overwhelmingly Christian due to British colonization. However, by the mid 20th century, the Igbo people began developing their own identity and various battles were
fought with other Nigerian sects and ethnicities. These conflicts eventually led to Eastern Nigeria seceding from Nigeria to create the independent state of Biafra. In 1967, the two nations would
