no means implies that they are ideal. Bureaucracy for example is not an ideal system and while Weber spent much time on this notion, he only claimed that bureaucracy is
a necessary evil. That is far from ideal. Yet, the ideal type is a way to evaluate what exists. That is, one looks at the ideal to come from the
type. For example, if in fact bureaucracy was administered as it should be with no corruption and so forth, then one can evaluate society in terms of the type and
not what tends to occur or what has occurred. In other words, one can look at communism as an ideal type. In theory, communism is an excellent and fair system,
but in reality, all implementations have been replete with corruption. When analyzing communist society, one may analyze it in respect to the ideal of communism and not one specific thing.
In examining every day civilian life and military life in the United States, how does it look in respect to the ideal type? First, daily life contains several ideal types
in which one can provide an analysis. While most people are used to government bodies being entrenched in bureaucracy, it seems like many businesses have embraced the concept as well,
or at least have used it to an extent. The contemporary workplace has within it many features of organization that emanate from the model of bureaucracy. One can see this
as many offices continue to possess time clocks or devices to monitor behavior and presence. There are time sheets, recordings of what an individual it doing, videotape and accountability in
