Project Management process? The definition of the concept illustrates how it relates to project management. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is
defined as: ...the overall process of developing information systems through a multistep process from investigation of initial requirements through analysis, design, implementation and maintenance. There are many different models and
methodologies, but each generally consists of a series of defined steps or stages (Kay, 2002). From the above definition, SDLC can be viewed
as information systems-specific project management. It involves the same steps and approach that project management uses for any type of project in any area, whether the project involves IT,
presents a plan for constructing a building or sets out the steps and order of execution for moving a household or office. The
analysis portion of SDLC equates with project managements definition of scope, where the organization assesses what it has and determines what additional capabilities it needs. The design phase is
the same for both and consists of formulating the design of a system or approach that will meet identified needs. Implementation consists of a series of steps that ultimately
lead to the finished product; maintenance equates to the use of the finished product and ensuring it remains workable and useful to the organization. 2. Why do many businesses not use
