of all sizes and in most industries for becoming ISO 9000 certified (Praxiom Research Group, 2007). The first thing the company must do is to develop a quality management system
(Praxiom Research Group, 2007). Once that system is in place and implemented, the company completes an internal audit to be sure the company has met each requirement (Praxiom Research Group,
2007). If the internal audit is successful, the company asks a Registrar to conduct an audit (Praxiom Research Group, 2007). If successful, the Registrar will certify the company as having
met ISO 9000 requirements (Praxiom Research Group, 2007). The certification by a Registrar is not a discrete requirement, a company could state they have met the requirements themselves, but having
an outside auditor gives far more credibility (Praxiom Research Group, 2007). More than 120 countries subscribe to the ISO 9000 standards (Praxiom Research Group, 2007). This fact makes the ISO
9000 certification invaluable in terms of competition and consumer expectations (Praxiom Research Group, 2007). Simmons (1998) explains that "the health care industry is benefiting from ISO 9000 and other quality
