In this paper, well examine two such religions - Buddhism and Islam - and determine if these two have become an important part of global development. Upon studying
these two faiths, its interesting to note that neither of them have much in common (they even began in different parts of the world), yet many people tend to lump
them together as "those eastern religions." In this paper, well determine that theres more to Buddhism and Islam than their eastern origins, than tie these faiths into the ideal of
global development. Islam As almost anyone who has picked up a newspaper has realized, Islam has received an interesting position in the
media spotlight since 2001, with analysts picking apart the faith to determine why Islamic fundamentalists behave the way they do. When it
comes to basic beliefs of Islam, the belief in One God or being is among the highest factors here (Zahid). There are no other Gods in Islam, he is the
number one, yet Islam doesnt characterize Allah in any type of human form (Zahid). Additionally, Islam doesnt recognize castes - all humans are created equal (Zahid). The diet of Muslims
(who follow Islam) features beef, lamp, goat and chicken (no pork) (Zahid). Furthermore, Islam is built on five pillars that are implemented
in daily life (Yutopian.com). These pillars are testimony of faith, five daily worships, fasting during Ramadan, donation to charity and a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a Muslims
