bid for the 2018 and 2022 Worlds Cup soccer tournaments (United States announces intention to host World Cup, 2009). The United States will be bidding on the event along with
dozens of other countries (United States announces intention to host World Cup, 2009). If the US lands one of the events, it would be the first time since 1994 that
it has hosted the World Cup soccer tournament (United States announces intention to host World Cup, 2009). What is interesting in this regard
is at the 1994 but that has been the best-attended today (United States announces intention to host World Cup, 2009). Its interesting, because from a soccer perspective, the United States
simply is not that interested in watching soccer. There are a multitude of youth leagues in cities around the United States in which pre-kindergarten and young elementary school students play
on a regular basis. However, once the students are in high school, their interest has shifted to other sports such as football, baseball and basketball.
Why then would the United States Soccer Federation try so hard to attract an event that much of the United States population really doesnt care for? What are
the advantages to hosting such an event? Even more importantly, how is it that a nation that is not anywhere near as soccer-mad as, say, Brazil, managed to still end
up hosting an event that was considered the best attended? In his pay per, we will examine some of these questions. We will
