During the early part of 2003, CEO Carly Fiorina pushed for the acquisition of Compaq Computer - and since then, HP has
moved to erase its "old guard" image and moved away from the perception that it was primarily a printer manufacturer (Lower, 2003). These days, HPs operations include four major business
groups; personal systems, imaging and printing systems, enterprise systems, and services (Lower, 2003). The companys largest unit is personal systems, and it
sells both HP and Compaq products (Lower, 2003). While briefly leading in the sale of PCs after the merger, the company continues to battle with huge rival Dell (Lower, 2003).
Meanwhile printing and Imaging remains HPs most profitable unit, representing about 35 percent of sales (Lower, 2003). Yet Dell is a force
