there have been political reforms, and sometimes bloody ones at that. Of the four models of democracy: protective, developmental, classical and peoples, one has to state that a garnering
of the facts puts the protective form of democracy at the top of the list. Liberal democracies are interpreted in different ways by different people. One of the most
basic models of indirect governance is the protective democracy. According to this model, the main function of the government is to protect the liberty of the citizens. Representatives from the
various regions make their regions concerns and desires known to the government. In addition, protective democrats believe that the power of the government should only go so far as
is needed to protect the individuals rights and their ways of life in a capitalistic society. "Democracy exists so that free competitive individuals may have and enjoy a maximum
