involves a particular dialogue model that is used for intelligent tutoring. While much of the information out there does tend to focus
on systems development and similar situations, well start this out by defining what, exactly a "dialogue model" is, and then determine, from there, how it fits into an agent-driven perspective.
Once weve moved beyond that, we can then formulate a dialogue model for intelligent tutoring. The difficulty we might have here is
that when it comes to "intelligent tutoring," its not clear what, exactly, is being tutored or who might be doing the tutoring (or who might be the recipient of it).
Well assume, for the sake of the paper, that "intelligent tutoring" might refer to someone setting up a tutoring program for another person or student, one that is geared to
help this other student/person obtain better grades in class. There is little doubt that many people -- including planners, schedulers, executives and
so forth, have their own "organic" system when it comes to planning (Blaylock et al, 2002). Most people, when it comes to working on problems, find their input (the goals
of a situation), then "output" a plan (Blaylock et al, 2002). These are considered "stand-alone" systems and, for smaller projects, they tend to work just fine (Blaylock et al, 2002).
But sometimes, holistic systems are needed to ensure that a particular project can take into account the entire process of planning, evaluating
and repeating. This is where models, such as the DIALOGUE model system, come into play. The DIALOGUE model is a basic planning
