10 months old. Her mother asked for an assessment for these reasons: reading comprehension problems, speech and language problems, written language problems and math problems. Her kindergarten teacher in Debbies
last school district had referred her but the family moved before assessment could be conducted. Appropriate classroom modifications and interventions were provided by this years teacher. Measurable Goals According
to the assessment report, Debbie does qualify for special education help. The IEP team must agree. This team is generally comprised of the school psychologist (evaluator), speech language therapist (evaluator),
regular education teacher, special education teacher, an administrator and the parent. Other persons may be involved depending on the case but with Debbie, this list would be an adequate team.
Since the parent referred Debbie, it can be suggested that the parent will agree to special help for her child. The teacher has already adapted the curriculum and the
instruction for Debbie. The teacher has also changed her seating. Thus, the classroom modifications required in IDEA have been met. Debbies assessments reveal some delays in all areas measured.
Many of these skills are interrelated. For instance, poor receptive language will directly affect the students ability to read, write and compute. Debbie did not demonstrate any frustration. She stayed
