position of the company and the way it may move forward a PESTEL analysis and a Porters Five Forces analysis will help to indicate the current situation. We will start
with the PESTEL analysis which examines the political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal influences on the business. Followed by the five forces analysis will then be able to consider
the future strategy options for the company. 2. PESTEL Analysis Political There are a large number of political influences on IBM. As a predominantly American company some aspects of trade and
business constrained due to the barriers in place for selling and exporting of high-powered computer hardware to questionable countries. This has meant constraints on the trade to countries such as
Pakistan, China and India. Some of these areas are potentially lucrative markets at IBM is limited in the way it can enter those markets as breaching the trading constraints may
result in action sanctions by the US government. Global politics is not all bad. General changes with increased free trade, the reduction of
