Wide Web can be a phenomenal research resource. It can also, however, be a haven for inaccurate and biased information. The intent of this paper is to evaluate
two specific World Wide Web sites for validity in terms of the information that is presented in regard to hypertension. Specific criteria will be used to with the intention
of establishing validity but the reader is warned that even the most seemingly valid web sites can have perverse incentives in play that, in fact, make them invalid.
There are indeed vast volumes of valuable information on the World Wide Web but, wisely, he cautions that you must be careful of your source.
Valid web sites are those sites that present information in the most factual way without consideration of any sort of gain from that presentation. Web sites can be
invalid, in comparison, both in respect to who is providing the information and the reason that they are providing that information.
Even web sites sponsored by advisory boards of true experts in a particular subject can provide biased information. Indeed, even the mainstream medical establishment itself can produce invalid web
sites when its goal of economic profit overrides its goal of most effectively treating its patients. This type of web site too then could be considered invalid.
As though the accuracy of information at any one time isnt enough to be concerned about, the student must take note that web sites are
