to my native home of Louisiana, where I settled in my childhood city of Slidell and began to plan for my future. Within just a few short weeks, however, Hurricane
Katrina would batter the Gulf Coast and my life would be forever changed. My experiences with Katrina had the greatest influence on my life because it taught me to place
less value on material possessions, to work together with those around me, and to cherish life. This paragraph helps the student present the first part of his experience. Prior
to Katrina, I had always been a collector of sorts. I wasnt a very active child, and rather than sports, I found my creative outlet through playing and designing video
games. As I grew a bit older, my interest in games did not vanish, and I began to use my allowance and paychecks from odd jobs to build a substantial
video game collection. It contained not only all of the classics I enjoyed from my childhood, but also a number of rare and significant works that were prized for their
quality or rarity, some of which I had paid dearly for and imported from other countries. I kept these games in their cases, alphabetized and orderly, and the collection was
one of my proudest accomplishments. When Katrina hit Slidell, however, there was no hope of saving anything. Not just my video games, but literally all of my possessions, were totally
