is over. But for the people of New Orleans, there will still be a massive effort at clean up. Things are still a mess and today, the people are worried
about Hurricane Rita and the effect that yet another large storm might have on the levees. There has also been much in the way of politics in respect to
the hurricane that hit this city with a vengeance and broke levees that people say should have been repaired years ago. Aside from the tragic consequences of this hurricane, there
is a sense that because the people who lived there were poor, the help was delayed. The government claims that the statement is not true. Others complain that if it
were not a black area, the levees would not have been in disrepair. Many claims to this end were made. McWhorter (2005) in fact reports that there are a great
deal of charges of racism in respect to the cleaning up of Katrina. What happened on that fateful day? What does the report show? The encyclopedia reports that Katrina was
one of the most significant natural disasters in history in the United States ("Effects of Hurricane Katrina," 2005). Katrina was a category four storm that made landfall on August 29,
2005 ("Effects of Hurricane Katrina," 2005). As the same region braces for the effects of Hurricane Rita, Katrina is still in the news, at least to an extent. Katrina left
