the End of History, both present a vision of the way that they believe the world will adapt and develop. The visions reflect views in the way that culture, religion
and human nature will dictate the pattern of human events that may, or may not, lead to a world of conflict. When looking at the article it appears to
be timely; at the time it was written it appears that one of the two potentially contradictory models may be coming to fruition making it appropriate to assess these two
models. Huntington put forward the notion in the future conflict would emerge as a conflict between civilisations rather than conflicts between nation states. The events of 9/11 have changed
the way this is seen, with the apparent clash between Christian and Muslim states. Within this approach the support of the west for democracy is seen not as universal truth,
but simply as a characteristic of western culture. The article summarizes Huntingtons view of liberal and multicultural theorists, which is relativity insulting seeing the views as failing to address the
real differences between cultures and that positive views seeing cultures as able to live together were unrealistic and the attempts of the west to spread democracy and aid in economic
modernization are making the situation worse as these are related to the differences in culture. As a science of government professor at Harvard University, Huntingdons rhetoric has the backing
of professional knowledge. At the time of writing it, the text may also have been read as a warning of the potential outcome if the governments of the west continued
