There are five main points in then paper. The first is that decision making is not rational, it never has been, but it is moving further away from rational models brains too limited, cannot process more than eight factors at a time, and even considering more than two can create difficulties (Etzioni, 1989). The second key point is that al decisions will have issues which are not only logical, but emotional and political, which many business decision makers believe that are overcoming by attempting to ignore these factors, but they are never truly eliminated from the decision making process. The third point is that there have been new approaches developed to decision making but they ate not satisfactory; One of these is incrementalism also known as the science of muddling through, an approach there it is not a goal that is worked towards a, but a problem that is moved away from. The approach is one that is highly conservative and results in decision which are going to lack innovation, but it is also an approach that accepts not all knowledge need not can be, considered in the decision making process. The second main approach is the opposite, a go for it approach of consul of despair, where there is a large commitment of resources towards a single solution. .
