the Middle Ages were so called, in reference to them being in the middle of these time periods, concerning other concerns, as would be connected with the humanities. The following
paper examines the Late Middle Ages from a humanities perspective. Humanities: Late Middle Ages In relationship to the humanities this paper
will primarily discuss social conditions, architecture and religion. The Late Middle Ages was a time wherein it seemed the culture clung dearly to all they possessed, with perhaps the knowledge
that change was due to come. The period that would follow would bring incredibly changes such as the beginning of the Industrial Age, Protestantism, slavery and many other conditions that
would forever change the world. During the Late Middle Ages one could perhaps claim that many things were coming to an end, not to be seen again, or not seen
again in their original condition. In one respect, concerning architecture, religion was powerful and it was clearly seen in all the artistic
and architectural works of the time. One could likely argue that in one form of art in particular the Catholic religion was strongly seen as it perhaps made a last
stand of grandeur prior to the strong emergence of Protestantism. "The pinnacle of Middle Ages artistic achievement, rivaling the wonders of ancient Greece and Rome, was the Gothic cathedral. In
fact, these stone Bibles even surpassed Classical architecture in terms of technological daring" (Strickland, 1992; 28). The Gothic cathedrals presented interiors that soared, and interiors that had never before been
