just what the title indicates, which is the concern about human values in a sea of scientific growth. Indeed, many issues provide ethical considerations for those who delve into scientific
pursuits. For example, while women are able to birth babies far beyond their reproductive years, carry their daughters zygotes and essentially play with nature, many issues crop up. Just as
prostitution is frowned upon, the idea that someone would act as a surrogate mother by supplying a womb is something that has created quite a bit of controversy. According to
the author, the primary premise of his work is that "the demonstration of values are not rules" (Bronowski xiii). The book goes on to say that discoveries of
science are really mere explorations (Bronowski 19). Indeed, nothing is set in stone. There is no dictum to say anything specific about medical or scientific finds. The author basically explores
the role of science in society by concentrating on nuances of its existence. Simply stated, the author looks at science and culture and sees a gap. By looking at the
subject rather intricately, he is able to bridge the gap between the two entities. In reading the book about science and ordinary life, one can take the comments at
face value, or use them as somewhat of a springboard for further thought or discussion. Authors of fiction have done the same and Greg Egans Distress contain many conflicts, inclusive
of the problems of globalization and the politics of science. In the work, Egan pits the scientific community against radical factions. A student writing on this subject might want to
