by K. Von Huben 4/2010 Please Introduction Human trafficking, according to one definition, is a criminal
activity in which people are bought, kidnapped, recruited, coerced or otherwise exploited, often for use as sex workers. But prostitution can also be considered human trafficking, and many people see
prostitution as harmless, a "victimless" crime. This paper considers the pros and cons of human trafficking. Discussion As with any controversial subject, a useful discussion can only result if emotion
is removed from the equation. Of course its disgusting to kidnap a woman and sell her as a sex slave in another country; but what if the woman (or man)
is "in the life" by her own choice? The issue becomes much more complex than it might seem on the surface. However, its probably safe to say that most people
believe that trafficking of any kind should be stopped. One source, an organization called ProCon.org, lists the comments of people who were asked their opinion of prostitution. Among the comments
in favor of prostitution are those who say it is a victimless crime and point out that "[P]rostitutes are not committing an inherently harmful act" provided that the participants in
the transaction are both consenting adults ("Top 10 Pros and Cons: Should Prostitution be Legal?"; hereafter "Top 10"). One prostitute says that many sex workers choose the life after they
have tried a lot of other jobs that "we couldnt stand ... Sex work is better ... It is the most honest work I know of") ("Top 10"). Another opinion
