Human trafficking is often thought of as one of the more abhorrent reflections of world history. At the most, we reason, human trafficking is something that occurs
only in third world nations, in less progressive parts of the world where less of an emphasis is placed on human dignity and rights. The reality is that human
trafficking is a problem throughout the world. It is, in fact, the more progressive nations that often become the destination point of the people that are forced into what
amounts to modern-day slavery. Despite this fact, human trafficking is a poorly-dealt with problem even right here in the US. Although laws are in place, the administration of
those laws is complicated by misunderstanding and even ideological pandering. The key to effectively addressing the human trafficking problem lies in treating all forms of human trafficking as the
same, in enforcing protection for migrant workers, factory workers, domestic servants, and those ensnared in the sex trade not differentially but the same. Equally important is the fact that
our system must evolve to punish those who are responsible for human trafficking equally as well. This, of course, will involve all levels of the criminal justice system and,
