In fact, a list of all the different jobs under this general category would require pages. Professional human services persons may be in the medical and nursing fields, in psychology,
psychiatry and counseling, in education, in child care in the different areas of eye care, in chiropractics, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and in alternative health care
fields (Ohio University, 2005). In fact, human services covers the hospitality industry and even the entertainment industry (Ohio University, 2005). In short, human services covers anything that has to
do with people in any way. Workers, not those with professional academic degrees and professional certifications, may also find a vast number of job opportunities (Ohio University, 2005). They
may work in hospitals or clinics, day care centers, residential care facilities, detoxification or rehabilitation centers or in the community in some other job (California Employment Development Department, n.d.).
Other examples of human service worker jobs include geriatric aide, crisis intervention worker, halfway house counselor aide, mental health aide and adult day care worker (California Employment Development Department, n.d.).
Whether employed as a professional or worker, the same ethics and laws apply. Ethics is concerned with making moral decisions about ones conduct (Flathead Valley Community College, 2005). It is
not a hard and fast science, instead, it is described as normative and it is concerned with principles that govern human conduct (Flathead Valley Community College, 2005). Different fields
have their own code of ethics, for example, the American Psychological Association has a code of ethics for all persons who work in that general area. There is a code
