themselves. They will soon use their superior "thinking material" to make themselves even smarter; presently, humans and computers work in unison to design new generations of computers ("2001-3000," 1997).
However, as time goes on it is quite possible that people will be utilized less often in this effort (1997). The real puzzle pertinent to the question of human resources
has a great deal to do with advancing technology. After all, if people will be replaced by machines in much of the work force, that is a very real consideration
that may indeed impact the future of HR Departments around America and around the globe. Since the first computers were invented not long ago, a fear of increasing technology loomed
large over the working populations. Everyone wondered what it would be like with computers in the picture. Would people lose their jobs? Would their brains turn to mush? During the
1960s, Duquesnes Professor Miller asked whether or not humans would be replaced by machines (Adams,1995). Films like the 1998 release of Lost in Space, depict a world of the
future where computers are everpresent but still, human resources are viewed as the most important part of the new era. Interestingly, it is science fiction that gives current business technology
