We have all heard the phrase: a highly motivated employee is more productive. All corporations want and need their company to have highly motivated employees to assure success and
profitability of the organization. The people who make this happen are the employees who add value to the organization in both tangible and intangible way, they add value through their
knowledge, talents, abilities and skills (Online Recruitment 2004). ?his is why it is so important to hire the right people and also, to offer the best and most appropriate training
programs to existing employees (Online Recruitment 2004). Turnover is expensive, in fact, it is estimated to cost between 150 and 300 percent of that employees salary. High turnover reduces corporate
profits and has a negative effect on employee morale and corporate culture. Therefore, human resource managers work to retain talented employees, they are working towards the companys own goal of
profitability. In the last several years, there has been a growing consensus in all industries that human capital, i.e., employees, are the most critical factor in the organizations success.
There has also been a growing awareness of the role of human resource management to the point that many now firmly believe that human resources must become more strategic in
its operations. This has led to the term Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM), which is defined as "the effective application of the organizations human resources to accomplish the organizations overall
