idea that it is immoral to exchange a body part for money. If organ selling were legal, it would create a situation where poor people may feel forced to sell their organs. Although it is true that people may obtain money with the sale of blood, sperm and eggs, organs are vital to the bodys functioning. That is, one can give blood and is encouraged to do so, but selling organs can significantly hurt the life of the donor. Although organ donation is allowed for altruistic reasons, buying and selling human body parts seems to open the door for unscrupulous individuals to take advantage of the needy. In many ways, it is the social responsibility of the world nations that is integral to this issue. Yet, not everyone agrees. Some Americans for example may believe that they should have the right to purchase or sell organs. In fact, wealthy individuals are sometimes on waiting lists and believe that they would have a chance at life if only the purchasing of organs were legal. The Libertarian Party takes the position that organ sales should be legal. They believe that a free market on the Internet could solve the organ shortage in the nation ("Online Human Organ Sales," 2008). The partys national director Steve Dasbach, believes that online sales could be the difference between life and death for those in need of organs ("Online Human Organ Sales," 2008). It is true. While it may be the case that donating a heart would kill the life of the donor, people have two kidneys and can donate one without severe repercussions.
