this area, which go to instincts and rationality. Should people go by their instincts, or reason, when deciding what to do? In Civilization and its Discontents, Freud claims that there
will be limitations in society. In that book, Freud writes: "Civilization has to use its utmost efforts in order to set limits to mans aggressive instincts and to hold the
manifestations of them in check by psychical reaction-formations" (105). Man does seem to want to seek pleasure and avoid pain, something that presents a problem for society. Man does what
he wants to make himself happy. For Freud, much happiness comes from sexual love or the pursuit of it. Yet, Freud notices that love also creates unhappiness. At the same
time, the alignment of happiness with love is tied to Freudian thought. And people do then make decisions based on love, however irrational. Many people are familiar with this idea.
They date and after a few weeks, things seem perfect, but often, relationships unravel. What was once the source of seeming bliss turns into a nightmarish existence replete with anguish
and despair. In many ways, while love seems to be a part of happiness as least as far as Freud was concerned, it is something that is not synonymous with
love. At the same time, the sexual system is more than just something that involves a man and a woman. The female sexual system allows her baby to suckle at
the breast. This is part of nature and for Freud, this is a perfect act of love that is equated with happiness. The theorist writes: "It is in
the nature of a completely satisfying love relation, which not only fulfils every mental wish but also every physical need; and if it represents one of the forms of
