handling and fashion" (2003, p.F38). It would soon become clear that not only was fashion important in terms of selling and marketing in general, but that women were more involved
with fashion than men. Indeed, aside from the stereotypical homosexual decorator, gender is key when discussing fashion and it is women who are in charge. Fashion
has been also equated with shopping malls, and to an extent--and according to a student--shopping malls present women as icons. For example, the mannequins in shopping store windows at the
mall influence womens purchasing decisions and so, what they claim to have just thrown on, is attire that might have been worn by a plastic replica of a human
being. Shopping malls are in fact places that do attract females and they draw large crowds in general as well. Although it is true that they are geared for women
and contain everything one might use their fashion sense for--furniture showrooms, cosmetic stores, pocket book shops--they are also there for men. Every once in a while, car show of
sorts or other male oriented type of presentation takes over the malls of America. One sees an array of automobiles, admittedly out of place, and this seems to be something
that is certainly male oriented. Still, the mannequins are truly admired amidst the fan fare whenever a special presentation graces a local mall, and these presentations are rather rare. In
