is a sense that the filmmaker wants to convey the idea that the conflict in the Middle East is really about nothing. In essence, the adults in the film try
to explain the conflict, but they cannot do so adequately. In many ways, the conflict that seems to emerge is a racial or ethnic bias. It is a prejudice of
sorts that seems to come through because the history of Israel suggests that while the conflict is perhaps inevitable, there is really no good reason for the lengths that the
people have gone to in order to secure land. The only explanation that makes sense is that there is a lingering prejudice that simply cannot be extinguished. This is because
prejudice is based in ignorance. There cannot be a good reason for it. Similarly, there is no good explanation for the conflict. It should be said that Promises is something
quite moving and one may have hope that if these young children can see the ludicrous nature of the conflict, the future is open. Perhaps the conflict will end with
a new generation. At least, it seems that filmmakers were trying to perhaps effect change by shedding light on a heated subject. However, some viewers have claimed that there is
a bias one way or another. Jews have argued that he filmmakers simply did not show both sides of the issue fairly and that they were slighted and there are
similar sentiments the other way. Still, the premise is brilliant. By taking children before they are poisoned with anger against the other side, there is a sense that the fight
is futile. Certainly, the children do not understand reasoning behind the conflict. Some critics have applauded the film as an attempt at peace. At least both sides of the argument
