Established in 1993, the European Union (EU) has unified European countries as they have never been unified at any other point in history. Consequently, Western Europe stands
as a preeminent example of the application of neofunctional principles to the development of an integrated political community. Great Britain, of course, is one of the most powerful and
visible members of the European Union. Many have contended, however, that the EU is having more of a profound impact on Britain than Britain is having on the EU.
Contentions abound that Britain is becoming Europeanized as a result of its interaction with the EU (Bach and Jordan, 2008).
That the EU has had a heavy impact on Britain is not surprising nor it is that unique. The EU is having a heavy impact
on all of its member countries. It cant help not to. The EU must constantly walk a tightrope between member nation restriction and promotion if it is
to balance out the best interest of the EU as a whole. That interest, of course, is just as impacted by global business as it has been at any
other point in the past. In some regards in fact, those nations who are members of the EU are even more affected by global factors than they have been
