Capitalism looms large in America today. Although the rich sun themselves and do nothing but have fun, there are few famous people like Paris Hilton or those on the reality
show Rich Girls, who do absolutely nothing. In fact, people like Anna Nicole Smith are mocked for being lazy. Even rich people who do not work are not admired. One
only has to look at superstars to see this. While it is true that what Britney Spears and Nicole Kidman do is work, many people do not think of it
that way. They think of work as scanning items at the Wal Mart, or digging holes to ultimately repair a road. That is real work. But while glam is coveted,
that does not mean that these stars do not work. Underneath it all people realize that these much sought after movie stars do put in effort when they engage in
their craft. Work is valued in American society and people are told to get off their couches and do something. To a great extent, the society shows admiration for work,
so much so that the "housewife" is looked down upon. Feminist movements are in part to blame, but generally speaking, anyone who does not work for a paycheck is viewed
as a freeloader. Yet, there are those who work and want to simply do recreation on the weekend. They may forget to straighten their abodes or leave the car maintenance
for next week. They neglect their appearance to some extent because they are too busy engaging in other activities. That too is frowned on, which leads one to conclude that
it is just hard work that is applauded, and that there is something indulgent about leisure, that people do not feel deserving of it, and that some people do not
