to live by their desires. They are not virtuous and have little in terms of morality. Many people blame parents for not teaching their children to appreciate the finer things
in life or giving them a moral base. It is why some take their children to church, or send them to private school. Virtue is learned and there are theories
which suggest that allowing children to be around people who are not virtuous, or do not express desirable moral attributes, is detrimental. Virtue is part of ones environment and
it is something that is learned. If virtue is learned, how might one go about teaching his or her children? In examining the ideas of Aristotle and Marcus Aurelius, one
can see that there are different methods of training and discipline. Aurelius once again looks at virtue as something taught. He writes: "When thou wishest to delight thyself, think of
the virtues of those who live with thee; for instance, the activity of one, and the modesty of another, and the liberality of a third, and some other good quality
of a fourth. For nothing delights so much as the examples of the virtues, when they are exhibited in the morals of those who live with us and present themselves
in abundance, as far as is possible. Wherefore we must keep them before us1." Here, it seems that there is a suggestion that morals and virtue be aligned with the
people surrounding individuals. If virtue is found in the home, for instance, children will learn it. Learning comes through exposure. It seems that while the method of learning is
