similar tragic tales. In writing an introduction for a term paper, a student should be aware that sometimes a creative introduction will not necessarily address the subject at hand immediately.
This does not mean that the paper has strayed from the topic. Rather, it is a creative method of introducing material. When the student writes his or her own paper,
he or she might want to experiment with different types of bold introductions which captures the readers attention. In this case, the similarity to Aeneas and Odysseus is that they
are involved in star-crossed love relationships and this is demonstrated when examining the plot summaries and characterization in the Virgil and Homer works respectively. In The Aeneid, a man named
Aeneas looks for a new place to build a city. His nemesis is a goddess named Juno who tries to prevent such a settlement from coming about. Conflict
is immediately set up here. When the characters end up in the city of Carthage, they have the opportunity to attend a large banquet. Aeneas begins to talk to
Queen Dido. Dido becomes enamored with Aeneas, something not unprovoked by the gods and goddesses which surround them. While the pair do end up blissfully together for some time, the
relationship abruptly ends in tragedy. Dido would kill herself and Aeneas would leave Carthage. This is an important illustration of how the star crossed lover theme is used. Aeneas
