changed dramatically over the last several decades. Some of the major communication tools were invented in the 1400s, such as the newspaper which first appeared in Europe in 1450. It
would be another 400 years until Graham Bell invented the first telephone in 1876. And, did you know that the first telephone answering machine was actually invented in 1898? The
first radio signals across the ocean happened in 1902. Then came radio stations across the continent and television (Bellis, 2010). These were remarkable inventions that changed the nature of communication.
Many people thought that the television would never catch one. They liked the radio and saw no need for the television. Today, of course, our population no longer thinks that
new technology will not catch on. Instead, we have become accustomed to rapid changes in information technology. Every piece of information technology, such as telephones, television, and computers have changed
not only business, they have changed our lives and they keep changing. Equipment gets better, new uses are created, and new products flood the market every year. There is one
truism that has been around since the late 19880s - before you get your new computer out of the box, it is obsolete. Thats how fast technology is changing. While
mobile telephones have been around for a long time, it was not until the early 1990s that they became so affordable. They have evolved themselves from phones to smart phones
