world of the European nations. For example, the Reformation of the 15th and 16th centuries was ultimately intended to strengthen the individuals access to spiritual autonomy and authority by presenting
the Bible to the common people in their common language. However, such efforts were determinedly opposed as the free distribution of the Scriptures resulted in undermining both the perceived authority
of the clergy and the very real power the clergy held in terms of economics and politics. In fact, "common" peoples ability to explore religious tenets on their own and
then forming their own opinions led to a decay in the penultimate authority of the church. Such was the case throughout the world and does not refer to only
the Protestant Reformation and separation from Roman Catholicism but in the relationship between religion and advancing technology, scientific knowledge, and secular scholarship throughout the world. Whether it was in Rome
or the Han Dynasty of China, medieval Europe or Mecca, moral authority associated with faith was and often still is the governing authority in all human action and interaction. But
it is important to understand that regardless of the passage of time and the advancement of science, there are still questions that are most satisfactorily through religion and individual faith.
In fact, certain aspects of human life and the relationship between people and what may euphemistically defined as "the Divine" are only answered through faith. Regardless of what scientists discover,
