poorly. It is perhaps only recently that the human race has come together with the understanding that people should all be treated equally, no matter their race, their culture, their
gender, or even their gender preference. However, despite the fact that people have been mistreated, for one reason or another, throughout time, there seems to be little research concerning how
people handle being discriminated against. Bearing that in mind, we present the following paper which examines the history of reactions to discrimination, examines current conditions and reactions, and then offers
a hypothetical research that could ascertain more accurately how people cope with discrimination. History As mentioned previously, people have been discriminated against, for one reason or another, since
the beginning of time. And, it is likely that people of centuries ago were just as upset and confused by the levels of discrimination as they are today. However, it
should be noted that throughout much of history discrimination was something expected from one culture or another, and it was not considered a reality that was necessarily in the wrong.
When we examine history we must put aside our preconceived notions of what we feel to be righteous treatment today. For example, we may find that ancient philosophers were men
who argued that people should all have the same rights. But, we should also note that many of these philosophers did not feel that women were necessarily people like men,
thereby discriminating against women in a society that did not feel such actions were wrong. The Jews were constantly discriminated against throughout history, and most people did not feel
this was wrong. They were the slave race and as such discrimination was not the issue. In essence, many cultures throughout time have not even truly understood or considered the
