management changes within the firm. There has been a corporate shakeup or a hierarchal expansion and while the corporate structure has changed, the firm has looked at its marketing practices
as well. It seems that whichever decade one examines, McDonalds has always been at the forefront in the fast food sector, continually introducing new items. From the Big Mac that
revolutionized the way Americans eat hamburgers to the Egg McMuffin which is something that brought breakfast back in vogue, McDonalds has been the industry leader. Today, after many years of
introducing new foods, McDonalds continues to expand globally as well as to evaluate where it has been and where it is going in terms of management, marketing and product.
II. McDonalds Corporation The first McDonalds Restaurant was opened in 1955 and went public ten years later ("McDonalds," 2003). The Big Mac came on the scene in 1968
and then later on, the Egg McMuffin would be a part of the McDonalds landscape (2003). In 1979, the Happy Meal would emerge (2003). As each decade passed, McDonalds
created new menu items for the public to enjoy and international expansion soon followed. McDonalds is a symbol of the new assembly line or a symbol of a new industrial
revolution. While factories are hardly visible, the assembly line to enter the McDonalds restaurants are somewhat similar in terms of mentality. This prototype has been experienced in many parts of
