people are connected to one another more than ever before. Also, money and information flows quickly in a global society (Porter, 2005). International communication and goods come from all over
the world quickly and easily (Porter, 2005). Indeed, this is the first time ever that communication, transportation and commerce would flow so swift and easily. The world is getting smaller
as people can afford to travel and also visit places via the Internet. Yet, while this is all very exciting, globalization has created some unwanted remnants such as child labor
to service the demand for cheap products and the exacerbation of the sex industry. Aside from such extreme negative things, globalization has also seemingly cheated people in third world countries,
thus distributing the wealth in an uneven manner. While stratification has always been a problem, now it has gone global and has accentuated the dilemma. Well before this global world
came to fruition were the great, classical sociologists Karl Marx and Max Weber pontificating about the world and its problems. They did not know a world this small, but they
could see the handwriting on the wall. In part, social forces created globalization. Robertson (1992) remarks that "the homogeneous society was an essential ingredient of the accelerated globalization of
the late-nineteenth and the early-twentieth centuries" (p.319). Yet, one can say that while Marx and Weber perhaps did not live in a global society as exists today, they did have
an understanding of human nature, politics and what might come about. In fact, a great deal of information about the meaning of globalization can be gleaned from Marx and Webers
