Granted, there are also a number of responsibilities that accompany such a tremendous step toward self-reliance; however, this particular aspect only serves to strengthen the allure of living on ones own. For example, living in a college dorm as opposed to living with ones parents while going to school allows for the inevitable transition into adulthood and the responsibilities inherent to such a traumatic life change, the opportunity to utilized college facilities and groups instead of studying by oneself, as well as having the freedom to partake in various social events that would not exist in the confines of the family home. Heading off to college may not have changed too much with regard to the partying aspect from past generations, however, what continues to be a particularly pertinent component to living on campus is that of camaraderie and the ability to pool academic resources. It can readily be argued that with the ever-growing academic climate, coupled with the need to maintain a certain standard of achievement, college dorm rooms represent the ability to completely focus upon ones studies by virtue of an extensive library and the contributions of fellow students. Not only is the type of school all-important to ones academic success, but the environment within which the individual resides serves to considerably enhance the overall learning process. The transition from teenager to adult is a tumultuous event that can span years.
