It is especially difficult for women to break into the business than men. Members of the entertainment industry that hold power share certain characteristics. They believe: only very young pretty
women will be successful; they believe that males are more likely to be successful with audiences; and many are stuck in a 1950 mindset. These characteristics are self-explanatory and require
no further clarification. Development This prejudice against this industry have been developed through personal experience. As a solo singer of R&B, Zouk, Reggae, and similar types of music,
I have experienced many rejections. At the same time, I have seen male counterparts who sing the same types of music succeed at getting enough gigs to more than support
themselves. My prejudice against the powers who be in the entertainment industry is affirmed and confirmed by the media and personal experiences of a few fellow-female solo singers. We have
together discussed what we have to do to really break into the field. There are many social and family influences that have contributed to the prejudice against the powers
in the entertainment industry. Family members have reinforced the notion that it is hard enough to get a break in music but it is especially hard for women. The
many emotional factors involved with the prejudice include loss of self-esteem with rejection and insecurity about my goals in life, In many cases, I was rejected only to find that
a male had been given the gig. I do think the powers are insecure and afraid that women will take over an industry that has been dominated by men. This
