Indeed, the idea to do business on such a grand scale would not have come to fruition, had technology not allowed for it. Yes, global trade has been around for centuries. At the same time, it is only in the past several decades that computer technology would grow into the Intent which would in turn create a marketplace with vast competition. Without high technology as it exists today, and particularly broadband, the EBay phenomenon would never have taken place. The economy today is tied to this new way of global trading. With net businesses cropping up, people are no longer afraid to put their credit card numbers online. That said, the phenomenon may be tied to the fact that more and more people are in debt. The use of the credit card has become even more significant as people make these paperless transactions. Still, it all seems good for this growing economy. And while EBay is just one company that has been successful by using the Internet to facilitate trades, it has seemingly had a ripple effect. With EBay, doing business online has been legitimized. EBay is a company that everyone knows about because it offers a unique service. It allows people on one side of the globe to buy or sell an item to someone on the other side.
