to understanding mankind. Yet, there are many different ideas about knowledge. Are people born with a "blank slate," or are they born with intrinsic knowledge from what came before? Throughout
history, knowledge is something questioned and in fact Ren? Descartes questioned whether or not people can even validate their own existence. Yet, the questioning of knowledge is something that has
been done for quite some time and one can even go back to the early days of philosophy when Socrates and Plato contemplated that very subject. The idea that all
knowledge is recollection--or that it is learned or experienced--is a point that Socrates has embraced. Yet, while that is the case, there are many questions that arise. For instance, a
student provides a concept for discussion: When contemplating the views of Socrates and Plato in respect to eros and knowledge, there is a suggestion that knowledge of the good--or what
constitutes human fulfillment--is possible. This brings up many questions. Can someone be fulfilled if they are informed and are able to fulfill their desire for love? Is knowledge a dangerous
thing, or is it something desirable? One can point to Adam and Eve eating from the Tree of Knowledge as something negative. Although biblical, the story provides a warning in
that perhaps a little knowledge can be harmful. Another point of view is that knowledge for its own sake can be fulfilling. People have a natural quest for knowledge. Yet,
