The paper uses the example of the Renault Clio which is primarily aimed at a female target market and compares this with more masculine brands, such as BMW and Audi. a form of technology, there are a wide range of cars and by looking at how one car type is marketed we can appreciate how and why there are a
range of approaches used in any form of technology marketing. The Renault Clio is a small hatchback, the primary market has traditionally been women, but when the car became
outdated a new style was introduced which was controversial. The new model share had a large bulbous rear, increasing the boot space, but also making the car very different from
other on the market. When looking at the initial marketing campaign for the car it may be seen as surprising that the target group were mostly females, and it could
be perceived that there was an attempt to shift the car in terms of customer perception so that is become more accepted in the male market Instead of ignoring or
overlooking the most controversial feature, the bulbous protruding rear of the car, this was made into a feature with the concentration of this. The advertisement features the car with a
sound track with the lyrics "I see you baby, shaking that ass" with the last work pronounced very carefully, the images showed the car from the back, and then a
serous of worm in different position shaking their derrieres. These were invariably attractive slim women wearing clothes that allowed the shaking to be seen clearly. The images included a women
leaning over a balcony watching the car go by, a woman roller skating with the car going past and then shaking her derriere. This may at first appear to
