can actually help them. Non profit making organizations, most of which are charities, are able to fill the gap between the needs of communities and the provision provided by the
state. Often relatively small, non profit making organization will have specific goals, to serve a specific need or purpose. One of these in the Los Angeles area is the House
of Ruth, an organization that has the aim to "provide temporary and transitional shelter and supportive services for homeless battered women and their children", these are omen that will often
fall through the cracks, many homeless women with children have fallen through the cracks, it is a social problem that is often over looked and when examining the Los Angels
area House of Ruth is one of only a few such specialised organizations ( House of Ruth, 2010). The running of an organization such as this has many complexities, although
