Samaria" (Amos 6:1a). Micah: "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to
walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8). Amos was the earliest prophet in Israel. Amos was neither a professional prophet nor a priest, he was a businessman, a managers
of shepherds and a grower of figs (Smith, 2001). His themes, however, are those that are spoken by all the prophets, condemnation for immorality, warning of Gods impending judgment, a
plea for the people to turn back to their God and how they can obtain Gods mercy (Taylor, n.d.). Hosea emphasizes the unshakability of Gods love and compassion for
His people even though they are always being unfaithful to Him. Hosea is more revealing of Gods anger at the people than other prophets. Hosea also reveals how tired and
weary God becomes because of the failures of His people (Taylor, n.d.). Some scholars think Hosea married a prostitute but that is in contention. It is also believed that his
wife was sexually involved with other men after they married (Smith, 2001). God demonstrates to Hosea the love He has for His people by comparing them to Hoseas wifes adultery.
God tells Hosea: "Go, show your love for your wife again, though she is loved by another and it is adulterous" (Hosea 3:1). This is a parallel to Gods love
for Israel even with their sinful ways. Micah emphasizes the importance of ethical behaviors and religious purity in life. He predicts judgment on Judah for their immoral behaviors for
