known and beloved by young children under the name of Dr. Seuss. The main goal of the artists is to preserve and pay homage to these classic characters, while also
conveying Dr. Seusss main message-"A persons a person no matter how small." What are the artists trying to do? As this message implies, the thematic thrust of the book
and the film is a message that honors diversity, while demonstrating how difficult it is sometimes to honor diversity and the right of everyone to be treated with dignity. These
goals are accomplished by staying true to the book, which features Horton, a goofy elephant, whose voice is supplied by Jim Carrey. Horton has been having conversations with the mayor
of Whoville, so he knows that there are tiny people living on a spec that is stuck to a clover. The other jungle animals do not believe him, but the
Sour Kangaroo, who does not trust anyone, is extremely threatened by the idea that Horton could believe something that she considers to be absurd. Consequently, she plots to get the
clover from Horton and destroy it. In other words, the plot also involves the reaction of some people to anything or any idea that falls outside a narrow view of
what is "proper." How well have they done it? All aspects of this delightful childrens film are done extremely well. The animation is beautifully done, with jungle images that
are beautiful and characters that are appealing and perfectly in tune with Dr. Seusss original conceptions. Camera shots are varied and used to create excitement, as well as show the
