the last five years financial performance it is possible to chart the patterns of the different profit margins. Figure 1 shows the gross, operating and net profit margin of the

a downward trend in all profit areas. When there is a fall in gross profit this indicates that the direct costs are demonstrating an overall increase in the profit of
the revenue generated. It is not unusual to see operating and net1 profit margins fall when the gross profit margin falls. It appears that the firm has been able to
manage some of the operating costs as this is not falling by the same amount by 2011. However, most worrying is the net profit margin, which is not only declining,
for the last three years it is a negative figure. Question II In order to assess why this decline it taking place it is possible to look at the
underlying patterns in revenue and costs, for this we can consider the way that these have emerges and look at the changes. Figure 2 shows the revenue, operating profit and
net profit margin. All figures here, and in this paper are quoted in millions of dollars unless otherwise stated. Figure 2; Revenue, operating and net income While the
profit margins have decline the overall revenue shows a different pattern. This is not as variable, there is a downward trend, but it increases and decreases. In 2010 the firm
