Two such values of all military branches are honor and integrity. The following paper examines, and discusses, these two values as they pertain to the military. Honor and
Integrity in the Military The value known as honor is a value that is rather complex, although simple as well. For example, an individual who is considered honorable is a
person who is considered honest and reliable. They are considered to be people who do the right thing in various circumstances, and someone that can be relied on in many
ways. This indicates a sense of complexity for honor means many things. In relationship to the specifics of Navy values, which are also values upheld by the other branches of
the military, honor involves the following: "Honor has always implied integrity, honesty and fairness. An honorable person would never steal, lie, or do less than their best. Behaving
honorably...means putting out honest effort, being willing to learn, treating others with respect, taking responsibility for ones actions and handling oneself in an ethical manner at all times" (Harmen, 2010).
As can be seen, acting with honor means that a person can be relied on in many different ways. For example, if
a person is not on time to their appointed duty that indicates that they are not incredibly honorable because they cannot be counted on. But, at the same time, if
they are not on time because of some unforeseen disaster, wherein they were behaving honorably, they would likely make arrangements, or contact someone in order to indicate the reason for
