2003). Morphy (1999) reported several years ago that there was some worry regarding what would occur in respect to Hong Kongs relationship with China, but that is really not
problematic. However, in 1999, Hong Kong did experience a problem which was that it was entrenched in a recession and there was even some speculation that the region would not
remain supportive of free trade and such (Morphy, 1999). Of course, Hong Kong fared just fine. Today, it boasts a dynamic economy and had indeed been able to ride the
waves of economic ups and downs throughout the years. Hong Kong presently has a population that is close to seven million and its population growth is about .59% ("Hong Kong,"
2007). China is the mother country of Hong Kong and they share an interesting and unique political relationship. Still, Hong Kong stands on its own and its political and
governmental system is unique as well. The region has attracted tourists and business professionals alike. The opening of Hong Kong Disneyland has also helped the economy there. Hong Kong
is no different from most other democratic, developed nations. It sees a people who are rather patriotic, but also sometimes embrace more than one identity when they attempt to define
