it is to say that honesty is, if used correctly, the best virtue one could possess. It enables people to understand one another when used properly, it brings people together,
and often keeps marriages intact if utilized prior to disastrous events such as affairs. The positive benefits that one can attain from honesty far outweigh the possible negative aspects. In
fact, for the most part, if used altruistically, honesty is utterly positive. As can be seen, the issue of honesty is very evasive in many ways. For example, in relationship
to marriages, a subject which was just touched upon, honesty is imperative for the relationship to work. Many may say that honesty can do serious damage in a marriage or
any other serious relationship. What if the mate asks about previous lovers? Should the answer be perfectly honest? What are the consequences of honesty in such a case? Obviously, this
is an issue which is one of the most touchy in relationship to honesty. And the best possible answer, at least to the question of whether the mate should tell
all, is no. This does not mean the answer needs to be a lie. But it does mean that the individual should truly examine the answer before given. Will the
effects of the honesty truly hurt the other individual? Before answering such a question, the individual should also ask themselves if their answer would be selfish or protective. These are
issues to consider seriously, due to the fact that honesty is indeed, a virtue. A virtue should never be abused, and should only be used in the purest of terms.
