category, and is sought after for a variety of reasons. In a nation that is filled with many educational controversies it is only natural that some of those controversies involve
homeschooling. In essence, there are those who feel it is ridiculous, that it does not really teach children to face the real world or prepare them for adult life. Yet,
from another perspective there are many who argue it is far more beneficial, educationally, than institutionalized education could ever be. It is also evidently, "the fastest growing trend in education,
growing at 15 percent a year" (Johnson, 2006; NA). With this information in mind the following paper examines various elements and issues concerning homeschooling. Define Homeschooling Homeschooling is
essentially what the name states, schooling at home rather than in a traditional classroom. Homeschooling, however, is not something that is simply done without regulations. Homeschooling is done with specific
guidelines in mind, guidelines that are required by specific school districts in any given area. There is what would perhaps be called traditional homeschooling wherein a parent can teach their
child and then test to ensure/prove their child is learning the required levels presented by their school district. They must meet the requirements, demonstrate that their child is learning what
needs to be learned for their age, and perhaps also indication that a certain amount of hours are spent on schooling. Each state, it seems, has different regulations concerning homeschooling,
as noted in the following: "For example, both New Mexico and South Dakota filed bills that would force homeschool students to take state-selected standardized tests in the public school
